I give talks on 3 main topics:

(a) Understanding Mental Illness:

A talk on Schizophrenia & Depression- A Caregiver’s Perspective

When a loved one is stricken with depression and schizophrenia, how can we prepare ourselves to care for him/her? Hear from the inspiring and true-life experience of caregiver, author, motivational speaker, freelance TV actor and advocate for the mentally ill, Raymond Anthony Fernando whose 1 and a half-hour talk focuses on the 32 years he has spent in caring for his wife who has since recovered from depression and schizophrenia. Raymond will also speak on depression (sharing his own struggle with depression), and touch on some of the myths of Schizophrenia. This awareness and educational talk is not just for caregivers managing family members who have mental illness, but also for students, parents, teachers, counselors, workers, employers and laymen who may at some point in their lives go through depression. Raymond’s sharing session will also provide useful caregiver tips and what are the warning signs that caregivers, support groups, office colleagues, and employers need to look out for in helping someone cope with depression and Schizophrenia (said to be the most distressing of all mental illness). With the recent revelation that 1 in 4 teens and adults could face mental problems, this talk should not be missed!

(b) How to turn a life experience into a book

In this talk, I will give useful tips on how you can write a book on a true-life experience. My 1-hour talk has encouraged budding writers to test new ground and contribute to the literary culture in Singapore.

(c) The Writer, the Entrepreneur, the Panther

In this 1-hour talk, I will provide more than 16 steps on how local writers can market their books through direct selling.
