Dear friends,
Even though my wife, Doris Lau has battled Schizophrenia for 33 years, she has recovered and going on to lead a perfectly normal life. Despite also having to manage her severe arthritis that leaves her mobility impaired, Doris has written 4 books, 3 of which are bestsellers. Take a look: our books. Indeed a remarkable performance for someone who has two major illnesses to cope with.
As the sole caregiver to my wife, I have encouraged her to write, because writing is healing. I will continue to develop and promote her works.
My novel, Loving
a Schizophrenic has sold more than 3,000 copies and has inspired
and motivated so many people both locally and overseas. This book is the
leading bestseller on mental health in Singapore. In the course of writing
this real-life experience book, I also began advocating for better support
for both the mentally ill and their caregivers and this is documented
in the category, "Letters" because
I feel the pain that many patients and family members endure. I have been
a voice for this group of citizens for more than 3 years,
and will continue to do so.
As a further step to help the mentally ill and their caregivers, I give talks on mental illness and have ghostwritten books. Details are also on my website. You are welcome to give me your feedback and/or to drop us an email if you wish to order any of our books (my wifes and mine) that are available. Thank you and have a nice day! Sincerely, Raymond Anthony Fernando
